Let’s talk about the top 5 things we like to do with sidewalk chalk outside with our kids. We love getting outside and using sidewalk chalk for kids to be creative. Not only is it great for them, but it also gives us parents a break. This is one of the many things we’ve found to get their creativity flowing – and flowing for a while.

Here’s a list of the top 5 things we do with sidewalk chalk:

  1. We like to have them create an obstacle course that everyone has to follow in order to get from the top of the driveway to the bottom. It’s great!

  2. They also love to lie down and trace each other’s bodies. Then they color them and make them into different things like an astronaut or an alien, or a chef.

  3. Now that our kids are riding bikes, they love to race. So they draw out race tracks to follow all the way to the checkered finish line. They each have their own lane that is unique to them. Even if one of them beats the other to the finish line, each one is styling in their own lane they created.

  4. Rainbows, unicorns, and a pot of gold. Drawing these three items is pretty much a regular occurrence. Have fun with it, and instead of a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, let them choose something cool that they would like to find.

  5. Color the bricks – or fence – or trees. Our kids like to color the bricks on our patio all different colors to make multiple patterns. They also like to make different scenes on our fence that separate us from the neighbors. And when that’s not on the agenda, they just straight up color the trees in our yard. They literally put their own special mark on, well, everything.

Here’s the best part… when it rains, it’s gone with no cleanup on our end. Easy peasy.

We hope you try giving your kids a go with sidewalk chalk.
