A funny fact about oranges is that the fruit actually got its name before the color! The word โorangeโ comes from the Old French โpomme dโorenge,โ which was derived from the Sanskrit word โnฤraแน ga.โ Before that, the color orange was just called โyellow-redโ because there wasnโt a proper name for it yet! So technically, we should be saying, โWhy is the color named after the fruit and not the other way around?โ ๐๐
